I serve as the Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning at Brock University, where I oversee departments including the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation and Co-op, Career, and Experiential Education while advancing equity within the university’s academic operations. I hold faculty appointments in the Departments of Educational Studies and Psychology, am affiliated with the Social Justice Research Institute and the Social Justice and Equity Studies MA program, and lead the Inclusive Education Research Lab.

I formerly served as the Associate Vice President, Teaching and Learning at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, where I developed Canada’s first zero textbook cost degree programs and British Columbia’s first university policy on micro-credentials. While at KPU I led departments including the Teaching & Learning Commons, Continuing & Professional Studies, Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition, and Academic Integrity.

In 2021 and 2022 Business in Vancouver listed me among ten leaders in higher education in British Columbia and 500 “business leaders who have a notable impact on B.C.’s communities, industries and economy.” I have served as an Ambassador for the Global Advocacy of Open Educational Resources with the International Council for Open and Distance Education and in 2018 was invited to speak at the United Nations about how open education supports the sustainable development goals. In 2023 I am a Distinguished Visiting Teaching Scholar at Trent University.

I have co-edited two volumes on open education and co-authored three textbooks in psychology, in addition to dozens of articles and book chapters. Together with Robin DeRosa, I co-founded the Open Pedagogy Notebook.

My work has been recognized with award such as the Robert E. Knox Master Teacher Award from the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, the Dean of Arts Teaching Excellence award at KPU, the Award for Excellence in Open Education from BCcampus, and the Emerging Leader Award from Open Education Global.

I have served as Chair of the Quality Enhancement Working Group of the BC Digital Learning Advisory Committee and on the Boards of organizations such as NOBA Psychology, KDocs, Virtually Connecting, and Ubiquity Proceedings.
